Methodist Youth Elect Officers at Braddyville May 13
The Senior Methodist Youth Fellowship met at the Braddyville church with seventeen members present and sponsor Mrs Dean Bailey and Rev Gross leading a discussion on the Book of Revelations. Officers were elected: president Ruthe Miller, vice president Joyce Barr, secretary Howard Teuscher, treasurer Jerra Jen kes, reporter Grace Enyatt, and area chairs. Installation is set for May 23 with various committees named.

Marshalltown gains a new math teacher to join the Corning veteran after nine years of service. Miss Piander, daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Piander of Clarinda and Mrs Archie Huddle of Blockton, is set for Marshalltown High School next year. Community guests include Emery Huddle’s family hosting Sunday dinner with Anderson Quits Business Carl Anderson leaves the local feed trade to relocate upstairs above the vacant Main street store. Fallon resident Robert Mattingly and daughter Robbie visit, while Paul Retalack and family from Denver come to see relatives ill, as Mattingly and Retalack are nephews of Mrs Ridnour.

Clarinda Students Sign Contracts for Teaching Posts
Miss La Donna Sunderman daughter of Mr and Mrs Alvin Sunderman of Clarinda has signed a contract to teach second grade at Shenandoah for next year. She graduates from Clarinda junior college this spring and was active in Alpha Sigma Phi, Collegian staff, cheerleading, Pep band, college chorus, Student Council, and Women’s Recreational Association. Elaine Greiman daughter of Mr and Mrs M O Greiman of Clarinda signs to teach in the Intermediate grades at Algona next year after studies at Clarinda junior college. She is a sophomore, active in chorus, Women’s Recreational Association, dramatics, and Student Council, and was Queen of Clarinda junior college last spring. Elaine has been in Alpha Sigma Phi, pep band, and Collegian staff. Both did student teaching under local teachers.

Richland drivers survive deer crash with fatality abroad

William Bean, Blanchard civic leader and councilman, died after a cerebral hemorrhage felt while mowing at his home. He had gathered mushrooms for a CBE dinner the night before and was active in church and community work. Funeral held at the Methodist church following his death Monday.
