Final Rites for Herm King Friday
Herm King 71 longtime Page County District Court bailiff died Tuesday night at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha after four weeks there. A Coin-area native and World War I veteran, he was a pharmacist by training and worked at the Mental Health Institute and Oehler drug store. Surviving are his wife Eva, two sisters Floy Zanon and Fern Chambers, a brother Elton King, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Friday at 2 pm at Foster-Harmon-Williams Mortuary with Coin Methodist Church ministers officiating. burial Elmwood Cemetery near Coin with American Legion military graveside rites.

Ruck Snaps Off Telephone Pole In Highway Accident
A large truck snapped a telephone pole on the highway detour at 14th and Lincoln St, causing damage estimated at 300 to 500 dollars. Harold B Crim of Grand Junction Colo, 54, admitted no fault and returned to Clarinda after authorities stopped the eastbound track at Bedford. Service to eight telephones was restored by 10:45 am, with pole replacement and cable resplicing expected to take days.

Forty-three Clarinda High School seniors and chaperones took a skip trip to the Lake of the Ozarks early in the week staying overnight at Ballinger's Court. They traveled in private cars with a chaperone in each vehicle and returned by midnight Tuesday per Board of Education policy. Thirty-five classmates did not join the trip.
