A CAPITOL REPORT notes Governors Loveless and Hoegh aged in their 40s mark Iowa leadership trends. Juvenile behavior and school district consolidation are discussed alongside tax, liquor revenue, and new state appointments.
A resident named Charles Hart injured his toes when his power lawn mower trapped them during mowing. A physician treated the wounds. The item also notes visits and gatherings among local families including Kline, Fulton, Roush, and Houchin, plus travel and hospital updates for several residents.
Ed E Jensen and wife will demonstrate live landscape painting in Clarinda on May 19 and 20 at the Production Credit Association building. Jensen will perform a musical program while Mrs Jensen paints two landscapes in 40 minutes. He is a former Orpheum Circuit performer.
At the Shenandoah state music contest the Barddyville band was among many groups to rate at place, with the Braddyville mixed chorus earning IIT. Local Mother’s Day events honored the eldest and largest family units, and visitors joined families across Shenandoah and nearby towns.
Northboro May 13 junior-senior banquet featured a saxophone solo by Allen Bayless and a piano piece by Alma Bredensteiner. Seniors Mary Parmenter and Allan Bayless led the program with a class prophecy as guests and families gathered for Mother's Day visits and social notes. The Quarterly Conference at the Methodist Church included a basket dinner and a Bible presentation to Mr Miller who will soon move to northern Iowa.

More than 100 Des Moines business leaders from the Manufacturers and Wholesalers Bureau of the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce will tour southern Iowa May 20 to 22 visiting Corydon Center ville Ottumwa Clarinda Shenandoah and others. The group will parade to St John’s Lutheran lunch at 12 30 pm and attend a Chamber dinner in June.

The coating protects steel roofs from rust and can be applied even on substantial rust, with best results when rust is just beginning to show.
