Clarinda's third annual Memorial weekend flight breakfast on May 29 will be the Midwest's largest perch event. Tom Johnson announces free breakfast for all, with displays, prize drawings, and demonstrations at Municipal Airport. 2000 meals expected with 540 pounds flour 135 dozen eggs 275 pounds sausage and more. Memorial Day Band to Play and Elects New Officers
The Clarinda Municipal Band will debut publicly at the Memorial Day parade after a band practice meeting. A new board and officers were elected for the coming year with Orville Shockey as president, Gilbert Sunderman as vice president, and Mrs Harold Hamilton as secretary treasurer. Directors are Richard Negley, Bryle Carr and Peggy Hitt. The band shows strong interest with solid attendance at early rehearsals.

County Seeks Bids for 1955 Road Graveling Project
The Page County Board of Supervisors invites sealed bids for 18.1 miles of secondary road surfacing in 1955, involving 23 530 tons of crushed stone or 11 765 tons plus 12 218 cubic yards of gravel. Bids due 11 am May 26 in the county auditor’s office for project 3-55 and 1 and 2-55.

The Page County Board of Supervisors awarded two contracts totaling 87 767 50 for surfacing 45 75 miles of trunk roads. Gen dler Stone Products Co Des Moines won with 72 687 50 for 330 000 gallons of asphalt and 8 250 tons of crushed stone at 4 19 per ton plus water sprinkling. The second bidder was E C Henningson Construction Co Des Moines with unit bids of 1 36 cents per gallon for asphalt application.
