New Ordinance for Sewer Bonds Authorizes 170000 Issue
City Council adopted City Ordinance No 438 authorizing 170 bonds each worth 1000 dollars to fund sewer construction. Bonds mature 1955 through 1973 with semiannual interest. Taxes levied 1954 through 1972 will redeem the bonds into the Sewer Construction Bond Fund 1954.

Methodist Church Seeks Return of Two Ministers
A unanimous quarterly conference vote asks the Trowa-Des Moines cabinet to return Rev Lester Greenwood for a fifth year and Rev Waunelta McConnell for a fourth year serving Clarinda and Shambaugh. The group also seeks full time for the associate minister pending arrangements with a neighboring church. Stolen Cars Recovered. Two Men Held After Crash
Pvt Charles E Amos 18 of Topeka Kansas is jailed on Missouri theft charges after a head on crash with a gas truck five miles northeast of Clarinda. The 1951 Dodge was stolen May 3 from Ernest Callen Rolla Missouri and later recovered. A second stolen 1950 Ford from Omaha was found abandoned east of the city. two Black men pushed it to a Conoco station and it was later recovered by a finance company.

Thirty pupils from grades 1 to 3 of St Pauls Lutheran School Yorktown visited Clarinda on Friday as part of a pre break tour. The group included twenty seven pupils and drivers who toured the post office fire station and newspaper office with teacher Miss Carmen Bode.

Water shut off planned for 16th Street area
