Page County farmers who have not signed up for the 1961 feed grain program will receive in-home explanations from former ASC committeemen. 942 farms have filed applications, about 49 percent of eligible corn and sorghum farms, with a goal of 65 percent participation. The program offers diversion payments, optional cash or corn exchange, and price supports for 1961 crops.

Governor Norman A Erbe started the largest vehicle safety inspection drive in Iowa history with 200 communities planning programs. Mid-America Plans Pipeline Extensions in Iowa
Mid-America Pipeline Co of Tulsa Okla announced two branch extensions from its LPG line to new markets in central Iowa. The Whiting Ogden 106 mile leg begins construction this summer with completion targeted for next fall. A second Ogden City to Charles City 100 mile extension is slated for 1962. The two projects cost about 4.5 million and will add pumping capacity at Whiting as the 2,200 mile pipeline network expands to Des Moines Mason City Waterloo Cedar Rapids and Davenport markets.
