Grand Opening of Clarinda Bowl May 12 14
The brand new nine lane Clarinda Bowl opens with a May 12 to 14 grand opening. Festivities start Saturday at 10 am with public bowling, exhibitions by world champion Andy Anderson and teams from Clarinda and nearby towns. Exhibitions, prizes, and special events run through Monday closing at 11 pm.

Invitations extended to 35 southwest Iowa Lions clubs for a district bowling tournament at the new Clarinda Bowl. The event, on Sunday May 27, is the first at the new alleys which are ABC sanctioned and feature nine lanes, a snack bar, public address system, air conditioning, and 48 spectator seats. Prospects Bright for League Play at Clarinda Bowl
Prospects look strong for a busy season at the new Clarinda Bowl starting next fall. About 60 businesses have signed as potential sponsors for men’s teams in the 1956 1957 league, with more requests coming in. The Post Office plans two teams, women show strong interest, and many teams come from surrounding communities. Clarinda Junior College will offer bowling as a physical training credit, and a junior league on Saturdays is planned along with possible midget league for younger students.

Cla rinda Junior College staged Red Rosey Bush a three act tale set in rural Iowa in the 1880s. Nancy Stillians wrote and directed the show featuring singing dancing and romance with Darwin Damewood providing ballad guitar interludes.
