Four MHI psychiatrists resign from Clarinda staff

Rural Youth box supper draws net from small turnout
Ray Berlin acted as auctioneer at the Rural Youth box supper on Friday April 21, drawing about 42 dollars from 35 attendees. The girls crafted boxes resembling a rabbit from a magician hat a bassinet cake and a bird and bees box. Curtis Rydberg Mary Cone and Ray Berlin served on the committee. Cards followed the supper.

Elizabeth Harlan Returns From India Trip Tour
Elizabeth Harlan, daughter of Mr and Mrs William Harlan, arrived home Thursday after a year of studying in India. She traveled from Madras via Singapore Hong Kong Tokyo Honolulu and San Francisco completing a full globe circle from New York. In Tokyo she visited Noriko Yokoma an AFS student who stayed with the Price family. Mr and Mrs Harlan and Mary Margaret met her in Omaha and she will stay home until summer school at Dubuque University where she previously studied.

Herbert M Goodman of Morton Township was appointed by the Page County school directors to fill a southwest vacancy on the Board of Education. He will serve until the next regular election in September when the seat is filled for the remainder of the term ending in 1963. Goodman is a Coin High School and Colorado School of Mines graduate and a World War I veteran who worked as a petroleum geologist for Shell Oil Co. He and his wife Helen Carmichael have daughter Ann at Clarinda Community College and son Jimmie in sixth grade at South Page Community schools.

Clarinda Scout to Tour Washington on Governor Erbe Invite
Eagle Scout Calvin Garnett of Clarinda will fly to Washington, DC on a personal invitation from Gov Norman Erbe. Garnett and two Iowa scouts will tour the capital, meet possible President Kennedy, and attend a two day schedule with guided bus tours, hearings, and luncheons. The trip departs Des Moines Sunday at 6 am and returns Monday afternoon with lodging at Andrew Field near Washington.
