Three School Officials Resign in Clarinda

Electric and Phone Service Restored After Blizzard Damage
Electric and telephone service in Clarinda area nearly returned to normal after two days of heavy storms and blocked roads. Crews worked up to 31 hours, with outages concentrated in the south county. Clarinda reported 1956 fourth quarter retail sales of 2,060,168 dollars based on tax returns from 213 establishments. County approves farm to market bridge extension plan
State Highway Commission approves design to extend the Farm-to-Market bridge north of Shenandoah Wabash depot. A summer contract will extend the bridge and replace the washed out roadway, with two 55 foot spans added end to end and concrete used due to steel delays. The drainage district will straighten the river channel and park the project upon district dissolution after completion.
