Dayre Williams operator of Williams-Foster Mortuary was named second vice president of the international Order of the Golden Rule at the Las Vegas workshop March 19 17. Other officers include Marion Hubbard president Berkley Bunker first vice president and W T Roberts third vice president. About 204 of nearly 1000 members attended from the United States and Canada. The first board meeting in the new headquarters is set for Springfield Illinois June 1.

Mrs Loren Pierce's Grandmother Dies After Long Illness
Mrs C C Mattox 68 former Clarindan and mother of Mrs Loren Pierce died Tuesday at Rialto California after a long cancer illness. The Mattox family moved to Clarinda over 20 years ago for highway work with Mr Mattox as resident engineer. The mother visited Clarinda yearly and was here last summer. Another daughter is Mrs L R Peterson of Rialto. Mrs Mattox belonged to the Order of Eastern Star. The local family could not attend the funeral.

Parked Car Damaged in Jed's Cafe Parking Lot Collision
Early Monday a collision in Jed's Cafe parking lot at the south edge of Clarinda damaged a parked 1955 Dodge owned by Mary E Richardson. Dennis K Day 17 Clarinda backed into the right side. Funeral set for Dwight Buchtel former Clarinda teacher
Dwight S Buchtel 63 of Coin a former Clarinda teacher and longtime hardware store operator died Sunday at Municipal Hospital. Born July 22 1897 in Newkirk Oklahoma he served in World Wars I and II then worked for Iowa Employment Service before returning to Coin to run Buchtel Hardware. A Coin Methodist Church member he will be buried with services at the Coin church Wednesday at 10 am.
