Governor Proclaims April As Cancer Control Month in Iowa

Governor Herschel C Loveless, in Des Moines, proclaims April as Cancer Control Month following Eisenhower’s lead. Leo Daniels of Ottumwa chairs the state crusade and urges Iowans to support the American Cancer Society by learning lifesaving facts and backing the 1958 fund-raising crusade. More than 40,000 town volunteers will run the educational and fundraising drive during April.

About 600 members from Southwest Iowa District Hi-Y Tri Hi-Y and Y Teen Clubs are to attend the 12th Spring Co-ed Conference in Clarinda on Friday.
