Red Cross Bloodmobile to visit Clarinda April 3
The East Page County Red Cross chapter announced that the 1956 Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Clarinda on April 3 from 12 to 6 pm in the City Hall basement. The previous visit on December 13 exceeded expectations due to an emergency shortage. A kickoff coffee for donor recruiters will be held March 27 at 9 39 am at the Red Cross rooms above Taylor Pharmacy.

A tired but happy Clarinda College Choir arrived in Clarinda at 2:05 am after a four day central Iowa concert tour. Director Nelson Crow praised the group as best dressed and behaved, with no incidents or illnesses. He highlighted the cohesive spirit, top performances, Mitchellville high school assembly as a standout, and hospitality at Mount Ayr Greenfield and Ferguson. Crow noted future interest from high school students and good festival results at Marshalltown.

In the 1956 East Page County Red Cross fund drive with nine days left only $2,500 had been turned in, 331 percent of the $7,461 quota, says drive chairman Oliver Gregory. Captains should turn in collections promptly, with outside workers leaving funds at Opitz Motor Co. Explorer Scouts to Have GOC Training Session This Evening
Clarinda Explorer Scouts will hold a Ground Observer Corps training session this Thursday evening. Post advisor Jack Douthit says Jim Tisdale, the Clarinda GOC post supervisor, and S/Sgt Herb Miller of Shenandoah, the Air Force GOC trainer for the area, will meet the scouts in Fellowship Hall at First Methodist Church at 7 30 pm. The post has volunteered to assist at the Municipal Airport.
