He serves with the 34th Aviation Company in Boone and is hosting March 26 27 open house events at Schenck Airport and local armories to showcase the guard copter and promote military training among youths.

Funeral services for James H Pullan Sr 76 former coal mine operator will be held Friday at 10 30 a m at Walker Funeral Home. He died Tuesday at his home 408 South 16th Street of a heart condition. He was born in Boone County Iowa and lived here 24 years owning and operating the Inda Clar Recreation Parlor for 10 years. Surviving are his wife Jessie four daughters two brothers and a sister. Interment will be in Old Memory Cemetery near New Market.

Stark fined $500 for dumping body near Leon
District Judge H K Kittleman fined Allen Stark $500 and costs for illegally disposing of the body of Richard R Jones of Clarinda. Stark, who pleaded guilty, began serving the fine in jail in Leon. Autopsy showed Jones died of natural causes. Stark and Jones had worked together in Clarinda.

Two Men Face OMVI Trial in Page County District Court
Paul R Hilding of Red Oak and Boyd A Mulford of Shenandoah are named in the Page County District Court criminal docket on OMVI charges. Hilding was arrested by the Iowa Highway Patrol in Clarinda at 12:45 am Tuesday with a blood test of .281 and posted a $500 bond after waiving a preliminary exam. Mulford was arrested Saturday in Shenandoah, waived a preliminary exam, and posted a $500 bond.

City Council levies 53342 assessment for street project
At a special City Hall meeting the council adopted a resolution levying 53342.82 in assessments against 344 Clarinda properties for last summer’s street resurfacing. Four objections were noted. three general and one about an irregularity corrected. Payments are due by April 13 to avoid interest. unpaid amounts will be added to property taxes and financed by bonds. The council also planned an April auction of a vacated alley behind 314 N 13th St and discussed Road Use Tax Fund allocations with Des Moines officials.

Plans for 175 900 county farm to market program
Page County Engineer L N Hoppock outlined this year's farm to market plan costing 175 900 dollars. Three new steel and concrete I-beam bridges will be contracted within 60 days by the Iowa Highway Commission. Base rock will cover 32.25 miles of roads including C Road from the Page Fremont line to State Highway 333 and IE and H Roads, with asphalt surfacing not funded from the project.

DeMolay Leader Martie Lee to Attend International Meet
Martin Lee named master counselor of DeMolays in Iowa last fall will depart March 24 for Victoria British Columbia for the International Supreme Council meeting. He will travel alone to Seattle then Vancouver Island March 26 to 30, returning to Iowa by train. Lee was chosen head of all Iowa DeMolays at the fall conclave, with plans to visit various Iowa locales after the council. He accompanied Leonard Kryselmire and James Campbell to Sioux City Tuesday. Kryselmire’s nephew was to be initiated. The St De Garph Chapter has long been active since its 1922 charter.

Kiwanians praised the Cardinal Canteen in Clarinda for its well kept facilities and strong student adult cooperation. Glenn Hipsley spoke on canteen operations, with Paul Frehse and J F McPherson receiving attendance tabs and plans announced for a March Easter egg hunt at the city park. The canteen, started in 1945, is run by a 25 member student board with an active adult advisory group, funded by the Community Fund and admissions, and hosts up to 9,561 student visits during 1959 60 with more expected for 1960 61.

Wife of Charles Gray killed in crash near Kansas City
