Linah Habbab from Beirut and Lyle Warden of Yorktown were crowned queen and king at Clarinda School Carnival held Friday in the high school building. About 1,750 dollars was raised for the activity fund from concessions and shows.

Services Wednesday for John Manes 72
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at Walker Funeral Home for John Manes a 72 year old retired farmer of Clarinda who died Monday morning at Municipal Hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage. He lived at 109 East State Street and had farmed near Blanchard most of his life. Surviving are his wife Anna Lea two brothers a sister a niece and four nephews. Interment in Clarinda Cemetery.

In a first of its kind gathering at Young's Nursing Home, representatives from Clarinda Mental Health Institute and local welfare and nursing facilities discussed care for elderly mental patients as they approach release. Separately fire crews responded to a furnace motor fire at Mrs Frank McKee’s residence with no injuries or damage reported.

Shenandoah Woman Seeks 27500 for Husband Assault
Helen Jensen Joseph of Shenandoah filed a Page County District Court petition seeking 27500 in damages from former husband Russell Jensen for an alleged assault on November 23 1959. She says he drove their car into a ditch west of Shenandoah and attacked her while she was dazed, with hands a club and a threatened death. The incident was investigated but no charges filed, labeled a family fight by the deputy sheriff. The couple wed February 8 1940 and divorced after the incident. she now lives with her mother in Shenandoah.

Stephen S. Hitt 30 a Clarinda plumbing contractor died of carbon monoxide poisoning found in a vehicle near Hamburg after a trip to Omaha. Born April 15 1930 in Anita he grew up in Oakland and later started Clarinda Plumbing and Heating Co. Survivors include wife Peggy son Stephen parents Elmer and Mrs Hitt and several brothers and sisters. Services at Trinity United Presbyterian Church with interment in Oakland. Memorials to Cancer Society.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at Williams-Foster Mortuary for Mrs Loma Jane Fleenor 93 who died Friday at Municipal Hospital after a day and a half of hospitalization. Surviving are two daughters Mrs Allen Pfander and Mrs Gorman Howell both of Clarinda, 10 grandchildren 29 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Interment was in Clarinda Cemetery with Rev T Fessler and Rev David Ash officiating.
