Berry Seed Co Moves Retail Outlet to Washington Street
Berry Seed Co leases the building at 11th and Washington St with the Cobb Ice Cream Co space and Walnut Grove Products of Atlantic subletting the rear as a temporary warehouse. The Berry retail outlet will shift to the Washington St front, keeping farm seeds at the Garfield St site for the season. Walnut Grove sublets the warehouse for six months and plans a new larger building. Robert Pratt, moving from Osceola to Clarinda, will manage the Walnut Grove facility. The Pratts bought the residence at 506 E Tarkio St and have two children.

15 Acres of Soil Farm to Be Sold
About 15 acres of the Soil Conservation Farm ten miles west of Clarinda will be sold by bid on April 4. Sealed bids are due by 2 pm at the Iowa State College president’s office in Ames. James A Hazelbaker 90 died Saturday at Young Rest Home Clarinda after a long illness. Born Sept 23 1867 in Taylor County he lived near New Market before moving to Clarinda about 50 years ago. Survivors include wife Dollie two sons John and Paul daughter Wilma Brady 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday 10 30 am Foster Harmon Williams Mortuary with Rev G R McGhehy officiating Interment Old Memory Cemetery.

Stephen Kelley, a Clarinda High School sophomore and five year scout, is due to receive the Eagle Scout award Tuesday at a dinner for Troop and Post 203 at the Methodist Fellowship Hall. The ceremony follows an Eagle court of honor held Sunday with community church and troop reps. Other advancement awards were slated. the event honors Kelley and his family, with organizers Edwin Lisle and Russell Madden arranging the court.

Sealed bids for rock surfacing of 16.18 miles of Page County secondary roads will be received by the County auditor until 11 am March 20, per County Engineer L N Hoppock. The letting includes 89 miles of petition roads and 9 299 miles of county trunk roads. Project involves 17 622 tons of special crushed stone or 8 812 tons and 9 151 cubic yards of crushed and screened gravel.
