Northboro Methodist Church plans a day long celebration for its 75th anniversary with a March 12 observance. Rev Clyde King leads the current service as remodeling and 1921 dedication photos are shown. Mrs Wesley Richards oversees the church history with member contributions and sought cookbook loan from the 1920s era.
Several assemblies covered topics from space to adventures with Hudson Bay. Notable speakers included Rupert E Keiper on rockets and a C J Albrecht showing Alaska adventures. Carnivals promotions, volleyball and bowling results, Future Nurses club, junior class play dates, Youth for Christ meetings, and a senior smorgasbord were reported with student involvement and upcoming dates.
The blue and gold banquet at the Methodist Church basement featured awards to cubs and scouts. Rex Baylass presented honors including a denner badge, gold and silver arrows, and various bear and wolf badges. Bruce Peterson read, and Daron Baylass performed on the clarinet.
Tommy Tyner was rushed to Omaha in serious condition after being injured two weeks earlier when a six foot long flower box fell on him in Shenandoah. The Shenandoah Sentinel reported the incident.
Betty Oldham, daughter of former Blanche Bair, is chosen as Texas Cherry Blossom princess for the April festival in Washington. She graduated from Cornell last June and works in International Christian Leadership, Inc. Her father is a civilian engineer in the Navy Bureau of Supplies.

The Iowa Legislature nears spring recess as a Senate 26 to 25 vote substitutes Shaff's reapportionment plan after a tie broken by Lt. Gov. Mooty. Braddyville Lions Club held its fourth charter anniversary dinner attracting 109 Lions and wives from Braddyville Clarinda College Springs Elmo Hopkins and Sheridan at the school gymnasium Monday evening. Arlo Sunderman opened the program with a welcome and the national anthem. Austin F Canavan spoke on SAGE and air defense linking to Lions Our Nation's Safety. Musical numbers included trombone and vocal solos. Maynard Burch led group singing. tailtwisters aided by Stanley Stone and Cliff Bales. Dale Messenger gave the benediction.
Twenty members of the AFE Club met with Mrs Harve Miller and co hostess Mrs Lowell Pullen. New officers are president Mrs Loraine Hughes secretary Mrs Estella Walters historian Mrs Jud Moger. Re elected are vice president Mrs Leone Duncan treasurer Mrs Vern McClarnon and pianist Mrs Horace Stone. Hostesses for the first meeting of the new year will be Mrs Willie Babb and Mrs Lydia Beery.
The Clarinda Flying Club changes its March meeting to Thursday March 9 due to instrument ground school on Tuesdays. Final call for the April 14 16 White River fishing expedition will be issued then. attendees should bring a $5 deposit, made to the Clarinda Flying Club.
