More than fifty alumni attended the first 20 year reunion of the 1935 Clarinda High School class at the county club. Sixty member class with 53 total attendees including spouses. two pairs of twins were present. Prizes were given for longest distance and most children. Plans for a 1960 reunion in Clarinda were announced.

Poppy Day Sale Nears $400 Raised by Clarindans
Nearly 400 was contributed by Clarindans during Poppy days Friday and Saturday of last week. Money funds veterans and their families as well as the child welfare fund. Poppies were made by disabled veterans and sold downtown by Auxiliary volunteers with help from the Junior Auxiliary and Camp Fire girls.

John W Berry aged 90 died Wednesday in Winterset after living in a nursing home. Former Clarinda coal and feed business operator and later real estate agent, he was an early civic worker and city council member. Funeral Saturday in Adair First Presbyterian Church with burial at Blanchard. Survived by four daughters and several nieces.

Blake Car Plunges Twenty Feet Near New Market
The Less Blake family escaped with no serious injuries when their 1952 Willys jeep plunged into a 20 foot ditch west of Hopkins Memorial on Memorial Day. Driver Andy Blake 15 bruised but released. passengers were Mr and Mrs Less Blake Merle and Cecil. The brakes failed as they neared a bridge and the car rolled over after veering to the shoulder. Damages were extensive though a total value was not yet determined.
