Clarinda Independent schools plan a 1954 55 tax levy of 248 28 83 dollars, up 40 392 83 or 14 6 percent from last year. Proposed expenditures total 360 393 83, a 15 2 percent rise over 1953 54 proposals, due largely to five new buses and higher salaries. Ross Howlett Dies Tuesday at 80 in Clarinda
Ross E Howlett 80 died at his home 823 North 15th street early Tuesday morning after five years of poor health. A former farmer, he was born in Cass county and lived in Anita Akron Colorado and Sterling before moving to Clarinda 25 years ago. Surviving are his wife four sons Rex O Otis California Ross A San Francisco Ralph S Denver Russell M Bakersfield one daughter Ruth E Wilcox Garden Grove one sister Dora Edwards Anita and four grandchildren three great grandchildren. Funeral services Friday at 2 pm Foster Harmon Williams mortuary with Rev S E Stickelman officiating. Interment Evergreen cemetery Anita.
