Five men pleaded guilty in district court before Judge Harold E Davidson. John W Taylor was fined 200 dollars for OMVI first offense. William Foutch 500 dollars for second drunk driving offense. Jackie Foutch 100 dollars for resisting arrest in connection with OMVI. Richard E Christy 50 dollars and four months in jail for larceny. Dewey Brake six months in jail for passing a worthless eight dollar check. None paid fines by Tuesday morning. all remained jailed or in default.

Last rites were held Wednesday afternoon for Mayor Robert L Criswell 72 of Clarinda who died Monday at 1 15 pm in a Clarinda hospital from a stroke. Elected in 1953 he lived in Clarinda 49 years born near Ottumwa married Nina Farrens Oct 3 1911. Surviving are three brothers and three sisters. Funeral by Clarinda Masonic lodge at Walker Funeral Home. Burial in Clarinda cemetery.

College Springs girl injured in detasseler accident
Rosalie Griffith 14 of College Springs was pinned under a detasseling machine owned by May Seed Co of Shenandoah after it overturned in a Tarkio field Monday morning. She suffered a badly lacerated arm and a compound fracture of the left arm. She was treated in Tarkio, Fairfax Missouri, and later transferred to Clarkson Hospital Omaha where her condition is reported as good.
