Iowa Tax Cut Cuts Rail Property Assessments
The Iowa Tax Commission reduced railroad property assessments by four million dollars to 103.2 million this year from 107.2 million last year. Tax bills will be issued next year in each county with railroad property. The 1960 operations used for the assessment showed a tougher year for railroads with most firms reporting lower net income. Reductions ranged from two to fifteen percent.
