Six Injured In Crash Near Clarinda Monday Morning
A Washington family of five from Vancouver and Harry Borland of near Clarinda were injured when a Studebaker pickup and an Oldsmobile collided about 9 40 am two miles west of Clarinda on Highway 2. Al bert Taylor 43 was driving and thrown from the car. Mrs Taylor 38 checked by x ray. sons Gary 17 William 13 and Thomas 9 had minor injuries. Borland 10 plus was thrown from his pickup. sheriff notes both driveways near the crest created the hazard. Borland, a former Page County sheriff, is a well known local farmer.

YMCA Day Camps Offerings For Boys In Cl arinda Area

On a westbound joy ride on the washboard road east of Farrens Roadside Market, driver Garland Marriott 16 lost control and the 1952 Chevrolet rolled to its top seven miles northeast of Clarinda. Tuffy Kelley was elected commander of Lergy Post 98 American Legion at the annual election held Thursday at the Legion Hall. He succeeds Marion Hashberger, who led the post for two years, with Lyle Fann as first vice commander and Harold Davis as second vice. Other officers include Bill Lindsay adjutant Bill Bench service officer and Dale Foster chaplain. Enlistment Open for National Guard in Clarinda Armory
The Heavy Mortar Company can accept up to 15 enlistments now. Capt Ron Schenck notes recruitment resumed after a long gap since last April. Enlistments available at the Clarinda armory for those with or without prior service. Non prior service recruits face six months training at a center and must depart within 120 days or after finishing the school year. Enlistees must be at least 17. Prior service members have no initial training. No new enlistees will join the company at summer camp.
