Committees for the 1955 Page County Agricultural fair have been organized with Jim Stephens as joint planning chair. Hans Morgan heads ticket sales, Ralph Hibbs property, John Beckett talent show, Darwin Buch commercial exhibits, Ray Gillespie police, Wayne Fuller parking, Clyde Thompson horse show, Oliver Gregory horse publicity. Secretary Ole Wibholm urged countywide support to fund and improve the fair and its livestock and home economics projects. Advance ticket sales will begin soon to aid this large Iowa event.

Russians to Visit Iowa Farms and Parks July 28
A Russian agricultural delegation arrives in Iowa July 17 and tours Clarke and Ringgold counties before overnighting in Clarinda July 28. They will tour soil conservation farms near Clarinda, inspect seed houses, and visit Shenandoah, Council Bluffs, and northern Nebraska with a bus at $60 daily.

Eighteen Iowa Power and Light Co electrical workers returned to work Friday after a wage dispute walkout that began Wednesday. Local 499 of the IBEW AF of L suspended the two day strike Thursday afternoon and pledged to continue talks with company officials for at least a month. The Clarinda employees stayed near the plant for emergencies, which did not occur.

A veteran planned burial for Major George W Sanders and bandleader George Landers was held Thursday in Clarinda Cemetery Red Oak with a firing squad and bugler. Seven Spanish American War veterans attended alongside associates Karl King and Charley Hayden. Landers had led Iowa bands in multiple campaigns and was deemed the father of the Iowa Band Law.

Donelson, 33, accept principal post at Clarinda High School succeeding Neil Rippe who resigned to go into business in Laverne Minnesota. He comes from Hamburg where he served as principal the past year and holds a master’s from Iowa State College after NWMSC and Graceland coursework. He served in the US Army Air Corps in World War II and has teaching stints in Fondala Clearfield and Hatfield. He and his wife have a seven year old child.
