Cars near Shen slam together when brake line was broken
An accident four miles north of Shenandoah on July 4 involved Dorothy Irene Rorebeck and John Aldrich Currie. Rorebeck’s 1956 Chevrolet sustained $200 damage and Currie’s 1958 Ford $100 after Currie hit brakes during heavy traffic. Deputy Tom Cummings investigated. A separate College Springs crash injured Jean Arnold riding with Bill McCurdy Jr. of Braddyville as their gravel road slide left the car on its top with extensive damage.

Clarinda Class of 1935 Holds 25 Year Reunion
The 1935 Clarinda High School class gathered at the Clarinda Country Club for a 2 to 5 pm social hour and an evening dinner. They discussed a 1965 reunion, named committee members, and noted attendees from Clarinda to Nashville Illinois plus several former teachers and many spouses. Two members were killed in WWII, with other deceased classmates named and several unable to attend.

Two Minor July Crashes Lead to Charges in City
City crime squad reports two separate Fourth of July accidents involving teenage drivers. At 5th and Washington Gary Lee Larrabee 22 and Raymond James McCowen 16 were eastbound when McCowen 1960 Buick rear ended Larrabee Plymouth as Larrabee turned north. At 1:30 Sharon Elaine Carver 16 stopped to turn north when Wil liam Conn Miers 17 Gravity driving east struck her rear. McCowen and Miers cited for failure to control.
