Fires in two Clarinda sites prompt emergency response
Clarinda fire crews battled two Friday night incidents. At 5 15 p m the station was alerted to a chimney fire at the Martin Buch farm home west of Clarinda on Highway 2. Six firefighters responded in a car with neighbors aiding. The Yorktown truck assisted, and later a fire at a Brown Construction yard tractor rack near Schenck was reported around 5 30 p m. Chief Wayne Fuller cited a possible short circuit igniting wiring or upholstery on the cab over engine. The fire damaged the cab over and seat cushions.
