State transportation aid warrants issued for county districts
State funds totaling 21 951.98 arrived for distribution to county school districts to reimburse bus and private auto transport. The 1954 55 aid rate was 71 3148607 cents per dollar claimed. Three youths sentenced to Page jail for petty larceny
Three young men Donald Young Leland Link and Marion Heatherton were sentenced to 30 days in Page County Jail by Justice R J McCurdy after being found guilty of petty larceny for breaking into a Douglas Township farm home on January 19 and stealing iron and copper wire. They resided near Villisea and were charged in informations filed by Deputy Sheriff Tom Cummings. They had no money to pay fines.

Ex-Governor of Iowa to Speak at National Farm Loan Meet

Stolen Car Replaced by Two Chicago Youths
Two Chicago youths, ages 15 and 16, traded a stolen 1951 Mercury two-door from near St John’s Lutheran Church for another Mercury. The 1949 Mercury, stolen earlier from Lenox and owned by Lloyd Cameron, was found nearby. The Herzberg car was recovered at Papillion by Monday morning after a mechanical failure led to their capture by state patrol. disposition of the youths was unclear.

Rotarian Recognition Highlights Rotary Publication
The Rotarian magazine received honors at a local Rotary meeting with praise from speakers inside and outside the club. Roast Pig Carvers Learn Techniques for Banquet

Elwood Starr Foster, 60, was killed in a hit and run in Cedar Rapids while crossing a street about 10:30 pm. Dale Foster, his brother, was notified Friday night. Six brothers and three sisters lived in the area. Elwood was unmarried.

Bus Truck Crash Causes $3300 Damage Near New Market
The Iowa Highway Patrol reports a bus and a 30,000 pound beef truck collided two miles east of New Market on Highway 2 Thursday at 9 pm. No injuries were reported. Leo Fuller of Des Moines drove the bus for American Trailways. Alvin Brisch of Los Angeles drove the Jaka Packers Inc truck. Bus rear end damage estimated at 800 dollars. truck damage 2,500 dollars. Truck towed to Clarinda by Duncan Motors.
