Camp Fire Girls work in Cla Tinda organized for the year and held its first meeting with Heart of Hawkeye executives Tuesday. New members include Mrs R J Haxby Mrs Arthur Greenwood Dr Walter Woods and Mrs Paul Peterman replacing a group outstanding in local activities. Marvin Waldruff is local council chairman with Mrs Paul Peterson as co chairwoman. About 135 girls are enrolled across Lincoln Garfield and McKinley schools with leaders named for each grade and school group.

Seven Page County farmers donate pigs for the swine producers roast pig banquet to be held Monday evening Feb 6 at Clarinda Lutheran Church. Temporary chairman John Beckett notes a county swine producers association may form with director elections at the dinner. Speakers Keith Meyers and Wilbur Plager will discuss breeding feeding sanitation and marketing to boost hog production. A divorce petition is filed by Elaine E McNeese of Clarinda against John A McNeese. Custody of three minor children is sought. the couple wed June 12 1948 at New Market.

Kerin and John Oberlin siblings from Clarinda will appear on Herb Shriner's Two for the Money telecast aired by WOW-TV Omaha and KSFEQ-TV St Joseph. Assault Case in Justice Court for John McNeese

Page County deputy admits officers not immune from accidents
Deputy Sheriff Tom Cumming was involved in a two car collision on Highway 2 near Shenandoah while returning home. Clark Anderson of Shenandoah missed a turn and attempted to turn around as Cumming’s car neared a rise. License plates arrive at Page County treasurer office
Page County Treasurer Paul Isaacson announced 5900 sets of auto license plates arrived Monday. Of the shipment 3000 sets were in the original load. cardboard tags were issued after plates exhausted. Holders with cardboard tags should exchange for metal plates. Truck plates remain scarce with only 11 sets left and no ETA on restock.

Pig Carvers for Banquet Here Feb 6 to Receive Training
A training session Saturday noon will prepare a selected group to carve the roast pig for the February 6 banquet at the Lutheran Church. The Amity adult evening school in College Springs closed with a record average attendance of 57.1 men for the 1955-56 season. About 60 farmers attended the Water Resources meeting in the High School FFA Chapterhouse where meteorologists and geologists offered sobering views. CFE Lamoreaux noted 1955 was Southwest Iowa's fourth driest year, with long range rainfall below normal, while Dr Charles Brown warned water beneath the ground may be shrinking as wells show record lows. Charles Sullivan of the USGS highlighted Nodaway River as a reliable water source in dry years, and cautioned that unless rainfall improves, groundwater levels will stay pressured.
