Clarinda physicians told the City Planning and Zoning Commission at City Hall that while the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals suggested improvements are desirable they question if the Thornton plan best solves urgent needs. Dr Fred Sperry led discussion on obstetrics division separation from surgery and sun porch additions atop the south end of the hospital, with 1951 to 1956 patient load showing a decline due to nearby new hospitals. The city will await the Hospitals department if it will endorse the proposed improvement.
