Services here Tuesday for operator of Linderman former Swift employee
Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Robert F Gantt 66 operator of the Linderman Hotel and retired Swift and Co employee who died Saturday morning at Municipal Hospital. Born in North Platte Neb he lived in many cities with Swift before retiring in 1954 to operate the Linderman Hotel. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and active in the American Legion Rotary Kiwanis Elks and Chamber of Commerce. Cremation will follow Masonic services by Nodaway Lodge at Williams-Foster Mortuary Tuesday at 2 pm with burial plans not announced Memorials may go to Page County Tuberculosis and Health Association.

Miss Ruth Clark of Dysart Iowa former Clarinda resident and longtime McAllen chamber executive will be the chief contributor to a new history of McAllen Texas prepared for the citys semi centennial March 2 to 5 Her scrapbook and documents collected in the 1920s and 1930s are deposited in the McAllen Library and will be featured in the book Officials of the Spring Fiesta will salute her during the observance She helped plan the tourist hall and notes Iowa visitors largely come from her state

An itinerant peddler Irvin L Bly of Omaha was fined ten dollars and costs for selling vacuum cleaners without a mayor permit and Chamber of Commerce Blue Card in Clarinda. Police warned, then summoned him before Police Judge R J McCurdy. Residents are urged to verify Blue Cards and permits.

About 8 765.5 acres of Page County cropland will stay out of production under soil bank conservation reserve contracts in 1961. Land remains in reserve per prior contracts and may not be cropped or grazed for the contract life. Participants receive annual rental payments in fall. About 1,840 acres of Page County land under CR contracts will terminate at end of 1966. Nationwide CR contracts expiring end 1960 total about 96,000 acres.

Autos collide at 11th and Washington in Clarinda
Two 16 year old Clarinda boys, James W Dunn and Ronnie J Bryant, drove autos that collided near the intersection of 11th and Washington Street Friday at 7 40 pm. Dunn driving east stopped for a turning car then was rear ended damaging his 1950 Chevrolet. Bryant’s 1951 Ford sustained extensive front damage and Bryant was cited for loss of control.

A retired farmer he moved to a farm northwest of Sterling in 1910 later living in town since 1936.
