Mary Berry 95 Dies at Kansas Methodist Home
Mary Berry 95 longtime Clarinda High School English figure died at the Methodist Home in Topeka Kansas after a long illness. Born December 7 1861 in Columbus City she taught in Clarinda rural and city schools and at Kansas State Teachers College. She moved to Topeka in 1902 then returned to the home in 1943 where she remained active in church and civic groups until her death.

Mrs Joe Sunderman 72 died Friday afternoon at 424 Erishna St after a coronary while supervising home repairs. Born Lula Elizabeth Ellerman in Evansville Ind on Aug 2 1884 she trained as a nurse and became the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church’s first nurse sent to India serving 1913 1926 with headquarters at Ambur. She married Joseph Henry Sunderman in 1927 and later moved to Clarinda. active Red Cross worker in World War II and a prominent Lutheran. Funeral planned at St John’s Lutheran Church with Rev Walter H Discher.
