Funeral services were held Thursday for Cheryl Strong 63 insurance man of Clarinda who died Tuesday at Municipal Hospital of a heart condition. He moved from a farm to Clarinda in 1934 and built the Hooker insurance agency later joined by Jack Bridie. Surviving are his wife, three sons, two daughters, three brothers, a sister, and 11 grandchildren. Interment was in Clarinda Cemetery. Walker Funeral Home in charge.

Lights and Cheer For Mental Health Inmates Rides
Christmas rides in private cars brought holiday cheer to 230 patients at the Mental Health Institute. From December 19 to 21, 50 cars supplied by the American Legion, institute staff, and volunteers carried patients to see town decorations. Home parties were hosted by Gray Ladies Women’s Club St Dymphna Society and former staff, with 25 Y Teen members assisting as hostesses and cookie helpers.

Clem C Yates, 78, died at his home in College Springs on Monday afternoon December 23 after a five year illness. Born May 22, 1879 in Burlington Junction Missouri, he was a farmer and longtime resident of College Springs. He leaves wife Mabel, son Burdette Yates, daughter Pauline Yates, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral was held at United Presbyterian Church with Pastor J D Almes officiating. interment in College Springs Cemetery.
