Hilton W Graham 63 longtime manager of the local gas plant since 1937 died early Monday after a long illness. Funeral services set for Wednesday at 10 am at the First Methodist Church. He lived in Clarinda and had served with Iowa Electric Light & Power. The company and local office will be closed all day Wednesday.

Gary Alcorn took second place, and the field included John Stephens Alan Meyer and Vincent in top placements. Premiums were funded by Almquist and Anderson Feed and Miller-Tomlinson.

Clarinda High School student musicians joined Thursday’s Creston festival concert where 130 musicians from 16 area schools performed before a large crowd. Richard Mowery, Clarinda instrumental director, helped plan the event as Frank A Piersol of Iowa State University conducted the massed band for his second year. Officials praised the concert as among the best in the Little All-State festival series.
