The Garfield district expects record enrollment when classes start August 31. Superintendent Avan notes an abbreviated schedule while outlining extensive renovations and relocations across the high school, library, nursing wing, and classroom spaces to accommodate sixth and seventh grades and new departments.
Rural teachers attend a Clarinda workshop on August 27 and 28 with brief separate meetings in the courthouse then moving to the techot building for the remainder of the faculty show. Nationalist testing led by Araith J Clark and Mine Helaleigh to announce plans for the 1958 80 school year.
Eight Page County rural and parochial schools will open August 31 after mergers. The rural districts have been absorbed into South Page Willisea and Shenandoah Community School District reducing the number of rural schools to a new low. Eight instructors will guide grades 1 through 8 at the opening, with a workshop weekend set for August 27–28 featuring education panels and campus discussions led by state and university figures.
Dean Paet Larsen projects total enrollment between 126 and 142 with a strong sophomore class. New student applications by Aug 10 exceed last year totals, while 60 10 freshmen expected among the entering class. Registration runs Aug 20 to 28 with freshman placement tests Aug 31 and classes starting Sept 1.
