Proposed expenditures rise with changes in Public Safety and funds shifted from Airport Municipal Hospital and Road Use tax. A deficit from missed 1955 street bond interest and added salary costs push totals upward. Five residents attended a tax talk. two officials urged lowering the tax by using balances to cover 1425 more and redirect 5000 to the airport fund.

Gravity Boy Dies of Leukemia in Gravity
Homer Kirk Kimpton eight year old son of Mr and Mrs Homer Kimpton of Gravity died of leukemia at his home Friday morning. He showed symptoms last year and was taken to Rochester Minnesota for treatment this spring. Funeral was held Monday at the Christian church in Gravity with Rev Clyde Kelly officiating. Slim Funeral Home of Bedford directed burial in Gravity cemetery. Survivors include his parents and one brother Craig.

Reserve Champion Beef Shown at Omaha and Chicago
The reserve grand champion baby beef shown at the Page County fair by Phillip Madden aged 12 will advance to Ak-Sar-Ben and International shows in Omaha and Chicago. Paul Negley plans to have his sons Richard and Marvin display the Angus at these events. The second high calf sold for 28 cents at the Saturday 4-H livestock auction.

Practical Nursing Board to Meet Here Tuesday

Young retailer Kaserman dies of cerebral hemorrhage
Vincent Kaserman 38 manager of Cook's clothing store in Clarinda died at Municipal hospital after lapsing into a coma believed from cerebral hemorrhage. Charles H Amick of Henderson Iowa died Sunday night during a visit in California. Word from Mrs Workman of Henderson states details are scarce. The body goes to Sellergren Funeral Home Red Oak for funeral plans likely Thursday or Friday. Mrs Amick travels home with friends. the couple once lived in College Springs and Clarinda. Amick was long active in banking and famed for mathematical genius. she was noted for elocution work.

Champions picked before grandstand Friday night
Top honors in the 1955 Page County Agricultural fair went to Dennis Ketcham, 12, Shenandoah, with a grand champion Hereford baby beef. His brother Kenneth showed the reserve grand champion. Phillip Madden, 12, Willisea, won reserve grand with an Angus. Dairy champions were Brown Swiss Gary Alcorn, Guernsey Nile McCoy, Holstein Billy Burch, and Jersey Jim Barclay.
