The 1961 62 school year at Clarinda Community Schools begins Tuesday August 29 with a full schedule of activities. Teachers attend a workshop August 25 26 and county institute the preceding Monday. Football practice and band activities start early. The first football game versus Farragut is September 15. Vacation days include September 4 Labor Day and October 20 for a state teacher convention in Des Moines. Other key dates: November 23 Thanksgiving vacation December 22 Christmas break January 15 end of first semester and May 25 last day of school.

About 650 high school musicians from 95 Kansas towns and 11 states have registered for the 14th annual High Plains Music Camp at Fort Hays State College August 13 to 19.
