World War I Vets Picnic Set in Clarinda August 21

World War I veterans and their wives or widows in Iowa's 7th District will meet at Clarinda on Sunday August 21 for a quarterly picnic and meeting hosted by County Barracks 1689 and its auxiliary at the American Legion. Officers and state and national officials will explain pension law 86-211 and discuss legislation.

Montgom ery County treasurer candidate withdraws from ballot

Carl Fredrickson has filed his withdrawal from the November election ballot for the office of Montgomery County treasurer and has resigned the post he held since 1957. Funeral services set for Clarinda seedman Joe Faassen

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church for Joe Faassen 69 a prominent Clarinda seedman who died Sunday afternoon of a heart attack while visiting Judge Har old E Davidson. He had just marked his 47th wedding anniversary with Hazel Faassen. He was born September 4 1890 in Pella Iowa and moved to Clarinda in 1916. He served as Berry Seed Co manager secretary and later chairman of the board. He was active in Kiwanis Investment Club City Council Hospital Board and several local committees. Interment will be at Clarinda Cemetery Williams-Foster Mortuary in charge.

Taylor County 4-H and FFA Livestock Judging Contest

Boys Demonstrations at fair Wednesday

He has led six counties as district leader for 12 years and will judge the event with topics including air cleaner servicing hog shade rope halter and fire extinguisher use. Car Collision Damages Two Vehicles at 11th and Washington

Police report notes a Saturday crash at the 11th and Washington intersection at 3 30 pm. Everett H Smith 64 Clarinda was driving east prepared to turn north when rear ended by Gary Larabee 23 also of Clarinda. 4-H Crop Judging Contest Slated at Bedford Fairgrounds

Malaya Red Cross Leader Visits West in Outreach

Mrs Kamsiah Ibrahim, director of the Federation of Malaya Red Cross Society at Perak, visits Omaha for a month as part of an international leaders conference.
