The Page County Fair adds The Sky Circus to replace Buss Carson Wild West Show after Carson broke his contract. The Sky Circus comes from Springfield Missouri and may partner with Atterbury and Hornbeck Enterprises.

Lonely Engineer Earl Brooks Dies at 69 in Clarinda
Earl Brooks 69 died of a heart attack Wednesday morning at Clarinda Municipal Hospital after suffering the attack at home. He was born July 24, 1892 in St Joseph Missouri and moved to Clarinda in his teens. Brooks worked fifty years as an engineer for Lisle Manufacturing in Clarinda and was a World War I veteran. He is survived by his wife Frederika Sue Brooks and one step-brother Leonard Allan. Funeral service 2 pm Friday at Williams-Foster Mortuary with Rev Lester Greenwood officiating. burial in Clarinda Cemetery.

Mrs Nettie C Kinney 82 died Wednesday afternoon after admission to Municipal Hospital. Born March 28, 1879 in Page County near Norwich, she was daughter of John B and Mrs Burright. Fire damages Jess Follmer farm. two towns respond
Fire trucks from Shambaugh and College Springs were rushed to the Jess Follmer farm home two miles south and one mile west of Sham baugh. Lester Wise discovered the blaze while mowing the yard. Damage was extensive and the cause remained undetermined.

The Page County Social Welfare office paid out 49 110 to 677 persons during July per the State Department of Social Welfare. Statewide public assistance totaled nearly 42 million for the month with Page County distributing 32 897 in old age grants and 4 029 for medical care to 402 recipients. The average old age recipient received 91 86 dollars and aid to dependent children totaled 8 452 in grants and 1 012 in medical care for 254 persons in 73 families. Sixteen people received blind aid and five disability payments were issued.

Woman charged with assault after husband cut with knife
Mrs Faye Murry, 41, faced assault with intent to do great bodily harm charges after police found her husband, John Murry, 51, with a deep cut on his upper right arm at their South 10th Street home.
