Cedar Rapids Musicians Local No. 137 announces a Battle of Bands at Armar Ballroom on Friday November 10. A 16 piece Glen Miller style band, three Rock n Roll groups, a Polka band, Dixieland acts and Progressive combos will perform in a donating program for dancing and listening. The event marks the Musicians Annual music extravaganza with hundreds expected from miles around. All talent is donated by 300 plus local Musicians Union members. The Promenade Orchestra at Coe College has long featured under director Dr. Slattery. The Cedar Rapids Municipal Band also relies on the Musicians Union for performances, all free of charge under conductor R. L. Mohlmann.
Morris L. Allen a Marion attorney and Mrs. Forrest K. Binger, former Linn County Republican Central Committee vice chair, were named co chairs of the Iowans for Stanley in Linn County. Verne R. Martin announced the appointments noting Linn County’s critical role in the U S Senate race.

Failor reports seven weeks of full time campaigning, over 10,000 miles traveled, and meetings with about 15,000 Iowans across 71 counties.
