Cedar Rapids suit seeks ruling on road tax fund use

Three Cedar Rapids residents and taxpayers file a declaratory judgment suit contending municipal road use tax funds were misallocated to pay a Kansas City engineering firm for a preliminary roadway study. They allege council action violated state law and seek judicial interpretation of chapter 312, section 312.6. Attorney Robert Nelson notes no prior interpretation exists and cites a strict AG opinion.

Surveys Shank Says City Hall Has No Official Comment

City in filing of action to tax funds remains without official comment.
