Gov't Extends Cottage Site Leases Along Mississippi
Congressman John C. Culver announced that the Corps of Engineers will extend leases along the Mississippi for cottages built on government land through 1988 unless higher priority use is found. This reverses an earlier no-lease extension policy, and applies to leases renewed for one five year term since last November. The Corps cites uniform treatment during a national phase out to reduce flood losses while maintaining policy against new cottage or trailer site leases.
