Aggressive dog bylaw tightened by Needing council

Needing municipality strengthens dog control bylaw defining dangerous dogs and outlining new enforcement options. The updated rules limit to three dogs on parcels under one hectare and require the dog control officer to deem a dog dangerous after unprovoked attacks or repeated aggressive behavior. Thunder Bay man jailed for Norval Morrisseau forgery ring

David Voss aged 52 received a five year sentence after pleading guilty to forgery and uttering forged documents in a scheme producing and selling forged Morrisseau artworks from 1996 to 2019. Crown labeled him principal architect. over 1,500 forgeries were linked to the operation.

Tax hike could be less severe in Gillies Township says reeve

Gillies Township may see a modest budget rise next year. Reeve Wendy Wright says the 2024 tax increase could be around 3.5 percent, far below last fall’s 26 percent spike. The draft budget will be posted online before the Sept. 16 council meeting, when approval is expected. Other nearby municipalities approved increases: Conmee three percent, Neebing four, O’Connor 11, Oliver Paipoonge 8.5, Shuniah 5.25.
