Cat Lake First Nation evacuated residents with cancer, diabetes, and addiction support after a fire destroyed the nursing station. Chief Russell Wesley said affected people left Monday evening and emphasized long-term planning and rapid resolution efforts by tribal council technical teams.
The city announces all outdoor rinks except the refrigerated Prince Arthur's Landing will close for the season due to softening ice and forecast high temperatures. Laura Nickelsen reports two large swans have appeared near Shabaqua Corners along Highway 11 weeks ahead of their usual April arrival. The birds swim a local river amid ice patches, returning to the same spot each spring on their migratory route. Swans mate for life.
