Friends of Oliver Paipoonge Heritage Park seek public survey
The fledgling group hopes an online survey will guide its effort to become an official charity and fundraising partner for the Highway 61 heritage park west of Thunder Bay. Interim spokeswoman Rebecca Eras says the survey will gauge visitor interest in future activities like car shows weddings and concerts. The municipality funds about 146000 annually and the group aims to secure non profit status a lottery licence and tax status. The survey runs through July 31 at bit.ly/3VUYFCOM.

Scratch-built birch bark canoe gifted to Babametoong community
Algonquin Avenue Public School Grade 8 students presented Ba bametoong First Nation with a birch bark canoe they built from scratch. The project, done in their graduating year, used Indigenous technology, language, and paddling to replace a canoe lost to a fire at the Babametoong school earlier this year.
