Town loses bid to claim Point Park land in court
Ontario Superior Court Justice Fregeau ruled the Town of Fort Frances cannot claim ownership of Point Park land between Highway 11 and Rainy Lake. Agency One First Nations groups argued for recognition of ownership after a 1998 dispute, while the town had based its claim on an 1908 cabinet order and a 99 year lease with the federal government. Judson criticized the town as a tenant in fact, and Agency One urged a future path rooted in mutual respect and dialogue among four First Nations communities: Couchiching Mitaanjigaming Nakatchewenin and Nigigoonsiminikaaning.

Grieg Carter built a large book box installed by Bob Hampe at the Eagle River Recreation Hall opposite the mail boxes. A second box exists due to overflow reads. Sharon Flickinger volunteers as bookkeeper and changes out the books for visitors.
