Thunder Bay officer cleared in takedown after skull fracture incident
The Special Investigations Unit found no criminal wrongdoing by a City police officer after a June 10 2023 pursuit in Thunder Bay that left a 30 year old man with a skull fracture. The SIU director said the detained suspect was being lawfully held for impaired driving and the officer acted within rights to stop his flight with a takedown.

Arson charge laid after Thunder Bay apartment blaze
A south Thunder Bay blaze in a Lincoln Street first floor unit led to one resident hospitalisation for smoke inhalation and another treated on scene. Police Major Crime identified a suspect, Danielle Furness Guiguet, 40, charged with arson disregard for human life and probation breach. She appeared in court and remains in custody pending further appearances.
