Volunteers prep Porphyry Island for season at lighthouse dock
Volunteers clear Porphyry Island lighthouse area 14 kilometres east of Silver Islet to welcome summer. Archies Fishing Charters ferries 33 helpers across Black Bay as docks get pushed back and micro plastics collected. Dwellings cleaned, tents raised, and a 1.3 kilometre trail cleared after winter winds. A small grant supports the effort with visitors predicted over the season.
