Thunder Bay gets new life saving cardiovascular surgery unit
After more than a decade and millions invested, construction begins on Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre cardiovascular surgery unit. The 76,000 square foot facility adds 14 in-patient beds, six new CCU beds, and a hybrid operating room, with renovations to two ORs and new ambulatory care clinic. Partners including University Health Network and Peter Munk Cardiac Centre helped bring cardiac surgery to the city, reducing travel for Northwestern Ontario patients.
