Miles Street site recommended again for homeless shelter village

City administration again backs the Miles Street lot for an 80 unit temporary shelter village as part of Thunder Bay’s 2023 action plan. June Port Thunder Bay cargo tops June record

Port chief executive Chris Heikkinen reports June cargo reached 1.193 million tonnes, the highest June tally in decades, with coal grain potash dry bulk and Keefer terminals contributing. Year to date totals exceed 2024 by about 155 thousand tonnes as steel rail and phosphate shipments stay strong and cargo like aggregate arrives for local use.
