Woman charged in deadly 2023 Highway crash near Thunder Bay
A 36 year old Red Rock woman Chelsey Kilar is charged with dangerous operation causing death operation causing death and operation while impaired in connection with a December 17 2023 three vehicle crash on Highway 11 17 near Mirror Lake that killed Monique Picard a 63 year old Longlac resident. Picard died hours after the collision at Thunder Bay hospital.

Fire safety game to become Indigenous app for northern youth
Former firefighter Shane Ferguson leads Staying Alive Fire Safety in adapting The Great Escape Game into an Indigenous version app. The project, funded by the Assembly of First Nations, uses elder teachings and seven sacred animals, aims for a fall release, and includes a national voice contest for Indigenous children.
