Canadians install underwater observatory for Antarctic data
A mobile-size underwater observatory has been lowered into the Southern Ocean north of the Antarctic Peninsula. It streams open source data on temperature oxygen concentration and chlorophyll to monitor ocean health and climate change impacts near Livingston Island. The system is built by Ocean Networks Canada and Spain's National Research Council and sits about 23 metres deep near a Spanish station, posting updates every 30 minutes.
