A 56 year old driver died at the scene after a Thursday afternoon crash with a commercial vehicle on Highway 11 about 13 kilometres south of Beardmore. The highway was closed overnight and fully reopened Friday morning as OPP investigated with collision reconstructionists. No charges are expected.

Sam Maki won a Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation 50/50 prize of 3.98 million. Foundation CEO Glenn Craig notified him from the 50/50 Store at Intercity Shopping Centre as Maki planned a movie night with his two sons. January 2024 tickets are on sale online and in store, with the store remaining open due to demand.
NorWest Community Health Centres operates the Care Bus with the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre and Metis Nation of Ontario. In 2022 23 it served over 5800 clients, averaging 62 daily, offering shelter and transport to services. It runs daily 1 pm to 9 pm and can be reached at 807 630 8631.
A 14 year old from New Brunswick was arrested by RCMP in connection with threats against St Patrick High School. He faces three counts of mischief three counts of public mischief and two counts of uttering threats. Police say the identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the investigation continues.
